Familiar

Gone are the hourly messages
and the late nights of wanting to be with
me–familiarity creeps in
and seeps in between.

Think that tomorrow,
when eyes are opened
I will still be there
you will still have company.

Keep saying there is no certainty
and so, let us enjoy now,
but how? Now that the warmth
is being overtaken by the cold?

Look back to the time
when I used to feel
the fire inside burning bright
at the sight, of you.

Reach out your hand for mine
and I, will grab it the minute
you tell me how much life means
with me in it

Come and hold me that I
can hear my heart and yours
beating again and when
I look in your eyes, I will

Know how much you,
how much I
still want, still need
you and I
